The Lancashireman Off-Road Marathon
A 27 mile event covering the off-road moorland, towpaths, fields and hills along The Burnley Way, open to Solo or Paired runners.
Start 8am, Finsley Gate Wharf, Burnley, Lancashire, BB11 2FG
Course 26.7miles with 4420ft climb (43km, 1347m)

Route partly follows The Burnley Way so is signposted but reccies are definitely recommended.
Kit requirements (per runner): FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit (full waterproof top + bottom), hat, gloves, compass, whistle, a bit of emergency food + map (provided).

The Lancashireman Off-Road Relays
A 3-leg fell relay event following the same route as the Marathon for Teams of 3 (Solo runners).
Start 8am, Finsley Gate Wharf, Burnley, Lancashire, BB11 2FG

Leg 1 — 8miles, 1185ft (13km, 361m)
Leg 2 — 7.5miles, 1342ft (12km, 409m)
Leg 3 — 11.2miles, 1978ft (18km, 603m)

Kit requirements (per runner): FRA Best Practice Kit is advised and may be enforced reviewing the weather leading up to the race but as a minimum please carry Waterproof top, Hat and Gloves.

Registration & Start:
Registration from 7am at Finsley Gate Wharf, Burnley, Lancashire, BB11 2FG. Race start at 8:00 on canal bank.
Checkpoints:
Start: Finsley Gate Wharf
CP1: Thursden Valley
CP2: Long Causeway
CP3: Holme Chapel
Finish: Finsley Gate Wharf
Overall cut off time at the finish is 18:00 giving a generous 10hr time limit to complete.
Each checkpoint will carry water, biscuits and sweets. Please ask a marshal if you require assistance. Please ensure you are self sufficient by carrying appropriate clothing and food/drink dependant on the weather.
Any entrant arriving at a checkpoint after the closing time will be asked to retire from the race. If you intend to retire from the event, this can be done at any checkpoint or the finish location; please tell the marshal you wish to do so and hand your tally. This ensures all runners are accounted for and avoids unnecessarily raising calls for emergency support from rescue services.
Kit and other info:
All entrants are advised to wear appropriate clothing for an off-road ultra and required to carry full body waterproof cover, map (see below), compass, whistle, mug and fully-charged mobile phone. Appropriate footwear (fell/trail) MUST be worn. A map of route OS 1:25k will be available but OS Landranger 103 or OS Explorer OL21 AND 287 is also recommended.
Some navigational ability required. Minimum entrant age 18 years old. No dogs allowed
Entries close two days before event date and a donation from the event will also be made to local charitable causes.
Route will be subject to some minor changes.
